1/32 Slot Car Weights
While sitting around one day, the brilliant idea came to us to measure the
weight of our 1/32 slot cars and see how much each car weighs. Some of the
results were surprising, some not so much. You can find them in an
attached Excel spreadsheet.
There are some interesting notes:
- The NSR Mosler's weight skews the average weight of the touring cars,
hence the separate average weights. It is a good bit lighter than any of
the other cars.
- Similarly, the heavy Kreepy Krauly March 83G is very heavy, much more so
than the average for a Prototype class car.
- The FLY Lancia Beta and NINCO Tuning Style 350Z have had no work done on
them for extra magnets, etc., thus making them weigh somewhat less than they
otherwise would.
- The heavy Orbit/Yankees Porsche 911 GT3R has a bevy of magnets and no
interior, as it was created for a modified class.
- Note the weight difference between SCX and Scalextric NASCARs. This
could be the cause for the SCX cars' good performance.
Have fun mulling them over!
